At Lingwood Security Management, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible women who make a difference in the security industry. This month, we’re highlighting Christine McGrath, a dedicated Security Officer who recently joined the team and is already making a significant impact.
Christine’s Journey into Security
Before joining Lingwood Security Management, Christine worked in events but had never been on the security side. However, the role always caught her interest. Having a strong background in working with people, she saw the human side of security and how it aligned with her skills in communication and problem-solving. “This job seems to be more about using my experience to keep the public safe and support those who need it.” she says.
Her first days on the job proved just how important this role is. From supporting an elderly man with dementia to helping manage mental health crises in an A&E department, she’s already shown resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to ensuring public safety.
A Day in the Life of a Security Officer
No two days are the same in security, and Christine has already faced many challenges. One of the most memorable moments was when she helped calm a distressed patient with dementia, preventing them from entering a room where another patient was sadly passing away. “It was a small action, but I know it meant a lot to that family. Moments like these remind me how important our presence is.”
To stay focused during long shifts, Christine keeps moving—walking the ward, talking to patients and colleagues, and staying alert to potential incidents.
The Power of Communication and Teamwork
At Lingwood Security, teamwork is everything. From listening to experienced colleagues to working closely with NHS staff, Christine has already seen how vital collaboration is to ensuring a safe environment; “The officers I’ve worked with have been incredibly supportive. The NHS staff also provide great advice—we all work together to ensure the best outcome for everyone.”
Security isn’t just about presence—it’s about communication, empathy, and knowing when to take action. Christine credits her SIA training as a valuable resource she refers back to, helping her navigate new challenges with confidence.
Looking Ahead in the Industry
As for the future, Christine is keeping an open mind, excited to see where her security career will take her. Her advice to new security officers?
– Listen and learn from experienced colleagues.
– Stay calm and professional in all situations.
– Communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, and the public.
“The NHS staff we work alongside have seen it all. Their advice can make all the difference.”
Outside of work, Christine is just as active—whether it’s hitting the gym, doing yoga, or playing golf. And here’s a fun fact: she’s trekked 13,666 feet up Africa’s second-highest mountain!
Celebrating Women in Security
Christine’s story is just one example of the dedication, skill, and professionalism that women bring to the security industry. At Lingwood Security, we’re committed to fostering a diverse workforce where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
