Director’s View: January 2019

Welcome to the first in what will be a regular monthly communication from me about what’s been happening at Lingwood Security Management.

As I’ve mentioned on many occasions, I’m a big believer in communication, both within our internal teams, and across the wider aspects of the business, through our remote sites, our workers across the UK, and of course our existing clients.

The year has got off to an excellent start. It began with the formal announcement of the retirement of my dad, Alan Lingwood Snr (read more here) and the transfer of the business under my direct control, so as months go, it’s safe to say I have been extremely busy spending time with each of the core departments of the business to plan the coming year ahead.

I’m delighted to say that we’ve commenced a number of new security projects already this year, including:

• Manned guarding for Canal Trust in Rochdale, Northwich.
• Evening and weekend guards for Bethell Construction in Stockport.
• SHEA Gas trained operatives for Murphy in Enfield.
• Manned guarding at a school in Birmingham for Balfour Beatty.
• Site security and equipment security for Balfour Beatty in Bristol.
• PTS (personal Track Safety) trained operatives providing 24hr cover for Network Rail in Bolton. This is dealing with an open trackway, protecting both staff and members of the public.
• Manned guarding for Conlon Construction in Windermere.
• Manned guarding for WCCTV in Bridgewater.
• 24hr manned guarding for Murphy in Luton.

We always value feedback from our clients, both negative and positive, as it allows us to continually refine our provision and deliver the highest possible standards across all of our sites.

I’m pleased to say that the following positive comments were passed across my desk over the last month, and it gives me great confidence to know that our staff are doing such a good job when I read this kind of feedback.

Adam received positive feedback from the Site Manager and was thanked for doing a brilliant job at Bank Road, Bootle.

Keith received positive feedback from the Senior Compound Manager regarding his excellent service working on the Amey Sersa Project.

Mohammed received some positive feedback regarding his professionalism and conduct whilst working at Richmond Street on an Amey Sersa project.

Specifically, the feedback for Mohammed mentioned the following checklist of actions, which I’m very pleased to hear are being implemented correctly.

• On arrival at the compound I was challenged in a professional manner by the security guard.
• The security guard enquired as to my employer and reason for attending the compound.
• I was then given a short brief regarding the control measures within the compound e.g. speed limit, one way system etc.
• I was informed about the layout of the compound and where to go e.g. Mac Rail etc.
• I was then instructed to put my PPE before moving about the compound.

So in summary, January was a very busy and positive month all round. I hope it’s been the same for each and every one of your businesses.
