Director’s View: May 2019
Welcome to the May review of what’s been happening at Lingwood Security Management.
Regular readers of my column may recall that last month I mentioned the trespass and vandalism project for Network Rail. I’m pleased to say that the feedback we received from Network Rail, British Transport Police and the Moms (Mobile Operations Manager) was fantastic, showing a vast reduction in rail-based incidents, which prevented delays and potential fatalities.
As a result of this, we have just completed a second phase of this work during the May school holidays, which again was a success, and we are expecting to recommence this work in July when the schools break up.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to all involved in this project, both the management team behind the negotations, and the security operatives on the ground actually providing the service. It has been a great example of teamwork, and has once again demonstrated our capability to deliver our security services to prestigious national clients.
Other new projects in May
J Murphy & Sons – Kings Lynn
We are covering the 24 hour security for an AGI (Above ground installation) for our long-standing client J Murphy & Sons, this time in Kings Lynn over on the east coast. We have a Gateman during the day who is responsible for access control, visitor booking in and out etc. Plus we are providing out of hours security, protecting the clients’ plant and machinery.
Woodclose Caravan Park – Kirby Lonsdale
We are protecting the park due to some issues of members of the public parking in unauthorised areas. This is essentially to keep the park safe for residents, and to ensure access to and from the site is not restricted for guests and residents.
Network Rail – Kendal
Network Rail are carrying out bridge repairs on a railway so we providing full security cover to protect the project.
Tendering Process
As some of you may be aware, most large scale business contracts now involve a lengthy tendering process, and we have a team at head office dedicated to this task. They spend hours poring over briefing documents and preparing tenders, with no guarantee of a result at the end of it.
We have a strong track record in this area though, and the team have amassed a great deal of experience in the tendering process over the last few years, so it gives us plenty of confidence when we do submit a tender.
I am waiting to hear back on a number of large tenders submitted by the team, and will report back on this next month. I would like to thank the team for all their hard work in putting these tenders together. As they say, you have to be in it to win it, and we are!
New Balfour Beatty Contract
We have had a meeting with a potential new client this month, and a meeting on site which resulted in us winning a 2 year contract with Balfour Beatty. More details to come next month.
Preston NHS Development Work
Nick has been spending a lot more time at Preston Hospital, touching base with our staff and getting the authorisation from NHS staff on our training regime and materials which will start to be rolled out soon. We have had a few meetings with Ward Managers and Staff which will help us tweak the service we are providing. This process of continual review and assessment is something I am very keen to see in all areas of the business, as it drives us forward and ensures standards are adhered to and exceeded where possible.
Job Opportunities
We are looking for SIA Licensed staff to work at Barrow, Lancaster and Preston NHS hospitals. Please pass on to anyone you know who is looking for work.
Personal Track Safety Training – Staff Opportunity
We have just started working with a new training provider for PTS Training (Personal Track Safety). This is due to the increase in security projects we are being awarded by Network Rail and other Rail-based companies.
We are looking for staff who want to progress in their security career and enhance skills and training with this additional ticket. If anyone is interested, please contact Head Office and we can discuss in further detail. We will help you complete the training.
Local door supervision
Once again we provided local door supervisors over the busy Bank Holiday weekend in Morecambe, as well as cover at a new dance function at the Park Hotel in Morecambe. It is always good to see local venues making a comeback, and we are proud to support them in doing so.
Wishing you all a productive and prosperous June.
Alan
