Director’s View: November 2019

Welcome to the November review of what’s been happening at Lingwood Security Management.

As we enter into the festive season and another year begins to draw to close, I am left to reflect on what has been a fantastic year here at Lingwood Security Management.

November was another busy month for us, with work taking place on a national level for a wide variety of clients, alongside supporting the local bonfire weekend events across Lancaster city centre.

Being a family firm, we always enjoy keeping one foot in the local community, especially when it comes to supporting events that get people out of the house. It was great to see the fireworks, bonfire and Light Up! Lancaster events so well attended. Even the rain didn’t put people off!

The overall picture of 2019 for us has been one of continued success. It is our busiest year yet since we opened the doors for business, and 2020 shows no signs of slowing down, so it’s vital that we prepare ourselves properly over the festive period and hit the ground running in January.

We have already lined up some fantastic new clients for 2020, more details on this to follow. I am personally looking forward to seeing where we as a team can take this business next year.

Expanding the Management Team

We recently appointed two new members to the management team  here at head office.

Darren Duncan – Contracts Manager

Darren has 15 years’ experience in the security industry and has joined us as a Contracts Manager to ensure all our contracts are serviced and clients are getting the best service.  Darren will be out visiting all staff to carry out monthly KPIS on them and ensure they are fully trained and inducted. He is highly skilled in Operations Management, Physical Security, and Risk Assessment.

Ian Mitchell – Senior Operations Manager

Ian has 17 years’ experience in the security industry and has extensive knowledge in the rail sector.

Summer will be interviewing Darren and Ian in due course, so full profiles will follow.

Kay Roberts

I would also like to welcome Kay Roberts to the office team. Kay recently joined us and has brought a whirlwind of energy and determination to her role. This is something I like to see in all of our new recruits.

Balfour Beatty Project – Sutton Coldfield

We are providing the Manned Guarding and Mobile Security to Balfour Beatty on behalf of National Grid on the Hams Hall – Coventry Overhead Line project. Our teams are responsible for the Security across the whole route starting from Sutton Coldfield – Coventry on various tower sites and compounds.

At the present moment, we are employing 21 Security Officers for this project and providing a range of hours over these sites with a 24 hour Mobile Patrol Supervisor. Over the course of the project will be looking at employing and running a team of 40-50 Security personnel.

Part of our responsibility is to work alongside the client and training providers to ensure all members of staff are highly trained and inducted due to the nature of the project.

Our supervisors are regularly on-site, with Brandon coordinating things and managing the scheduling from the head office side of things. It’s a great team effort once again and I have been impressed how everyone has pulled together to deliver this for Balfour Beatty.

If you know of any SIA Licensed operatives in this area of the country, please contact our recruitment team, as we are still looking to recruit for this project.

Taziker Hammersmith

We are proud to be working with Taziker Hammersmith. This a brand new client who we are really looking forward to getting started with. They are a direct supplier to Network Rail and specialise in structural engineering.

In their own words: “At Taziker Industrial our great strength is using innovation to solve problems. We challenge ourselves continuously to improve and set the standards within the industry. That’s why our clients always look to us to make their projects 100% safe and reliable.”

How Lingwood Security Began

The leader & founder of Lingwood Security Management, Alan Lingwood Snr, was recently interviewed by Smarty Cap Productions & Half Moon Bay Media on his past & how LSM was started. You can watch the clip here:  https://smartycap.co.uk/4-alan-lingwood/

Positive Feedback

It is always great when positive feedback lands on my desk from clients about the hard work members of staff have put in.

We have recently received the following feedback from RLI for one of our guards.

“The excellent service that was provided to one of our patients on the AMU. He was absolutely fantastic with the client. They were not easy to manage but he was so professional, calm and collected. He built a fabulous relationship with the patient.”

This is very much one of our aims when it comes to providing the bed watch service; namely being confident, reassuring, following procedures and having excellent communication skills.

Please all guards keep up your good work!

Season’s Greetings

As this is my final column before the festivities begin, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our customers, staff, contractors, friends and their families a very Happy Christmas, and I send to you all my best wishes for 2020.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year and we look forward to another successful year in business next year.

In the meantime, have a productive and prosperous December.
