Director’s View: October 2019

Welcome to the October review of what’s been happening at Lingwood Security Management.

Regular readers of my column will hopefully have noticed that I didn’t do one in September.

This was not due to forgetfulness, or heaven forbid that I had nothing to say (that would be a first!). In actual fact, the past eight weeks have just flown by as things have been even busier than usual, with client meetings, presentations, review meetings, recruitment interviews… the list goes on.

I have been all over the country attending many of the above, as have other members of the management team, and it’s really pleasing to see so much positive activity in the business.

The clocks went back last weekend, which meant an extra hour in bed on Sunday morning for some, but more importantly, it brings with it darker evenings from teatime onwards, increasing the need to be vigilant when it comes to securing property and valuable goods. It is a well-known fact that thieves, vandals and other unsavoury characters love operating under the cover of darkness, so please do make sure your security lights, CCTV and door locks are all up-to-date, and obviously if you require any physical guards or manned patrols, just give the office a ring to arrange it. Better safe than sorry, to borrow a popular cliché!

Bonfire Weekend

We have a busy weekend ahead of us for Bonfire weekend. Our events team, including our Events Supervisor, are all looking forward to getting stuck into these local events, providing public-facing security to ensure the events run smoothly, safely and ideally, with a bang.

Light up Lancaster

We are delighted to be providing the security services and stewarding for Light up Lancaster this weekend for Pennine Events. If you see any of our friendly operatives, please stop and say hello, as they are always pleased to chat to our customers and friends of the business.

There are still a couple of spaces left if you would like to be involved.

Balfour Beatty Quarterly Business Review

Summer & Doc (Thomas) attended our quarterly business review with Balfour Beatty this month, for which we received excellent feedback. The presentation went very well and Balfour Beatty stated how impressed they are with the amount of positive feedback Lingwood Security gets across the board, and how quickly we deal with incidents and complaints.

Looking ahead to 2020, we already have quite a few quotations being sent out for Balfour Beatty work, so it’s very pleasing to see that relationship going from strength to strength. It already looks like 2020 will be even busier than this year for Lingwood Security Management.

Christmas & New Year

The silly season is fast approaching, so now is the perfect time to review your security needs and requirements over that period. The earlier things are put into place, the less hassle and stress it causes you nearer the time.

The last thing you want is for a problem to occur just as you sit down for Christmas dinner, only to realise you haven’t put any security plans in place, or because your alarm is going off and you need to attend the business property.

We offer a key holding and alarm response service which is designed to prevent such a scenario. It also avoids you, or any designated key-holder, being placed in a potentially dangerous or distressing situation. Upon alert, and whether or not there is a Police presence, a member of our highly trained Alarm Response Team will react to your security breach immediately. In addition, your security system will be connected to our 24-hour Operations and Communications Centre, which is in contact with the emergency services.

More details on our website here…

Chubb Emergency Response

As an emergency responder to National Grid and Chubb, we have been called out to substations in Lincoln recently, where we attended to secure the site due to various reasons. Once again, we have received fantastic feedback for our response.

We have a team of highly trained operatives ready to be deployed, with a fully stocked welfare vehicle and battle boxes for exactly these types of call-outs.

Trespass & Vandalism Project

Following our previous success with this project, we are once again providing trespass and vandalism patrols for Network Rail in the Midlands. This is a project we feel particularly passionate about, so it’s great to have an ongoing involvement to try and keep the railways safe and secure, as well as the people who use them.

Social Value – Hybrid Vehicle No.2

Lingwood Security Management are always trying to improve our social value and with this in mind, we have recently purchased our second Hybrid vehicle, to be used by our managers when travelling up and down the country for meetings and site appointments.

Hybrid vehicles offer greater fuel efficiency than traditionally powered cars and vans. They also offer social value from air emission reductions, which occur because fewer gallons of fuel are combusted per mile travelled.

I will be taking the vehicle out on my next cross-country journey, so look out for my road test report in the November issue.

Wishing you all a productive and prosperous November.
