Guards Complete Network Rail Course

Four of our guards recently completed the Network Rail Personal Track Safety (PTS) course on Friday 2nd September to allow them to work on our railway security projects.

Congratulations to Brian Acklam, Ray Delaney. Jason Helme and John Appleton on successful completion of the course.

Personal Track Safety is a system of safer working practices designed to ensure the safety of railway workers who have to work on or near the line.

The course covers all aspects of rail safety, and focuses on principal hazards, such as a collision between a rail vehicle and a track worker, electrocution and trips and falls.

Delegates are trained to recognise railway signs and understand their separate meanings, given a full breakdown of the approved PPE for railway work, and are briefed on the importance of teamwork to make sure nobody is put in danger.

A PTS Certificate is required before anybody is allowed to work within the boundary of Network Rail tracks in the UK (on or near the line).

Lingwood Security Management is continually expanding its rail division across the UK, so it’s very positive to see four more of our guards pass this essential course

Speaking after the course, John Appleton said: “I really enjoyed taking part in the Personal Track Safety Training. I am thankful to Lingwood Security Management for the opportunity and especially enjoyed the practical side of the training. I am looking forward to getting my teeth into new rail projects and working with our new and existing clients.”

John is our Barrow in Furness Regional Supervisor for Cumbria and South Lakes.
