Meet Duncan Whitehead
Lingwood Security Management would like to extend a warm welcome to Duncan Whitehead, who joins us this month as our Contracts Manager.
Duncan will be out visiting sites over the next couple of weeks, introducing himself to staff and will follow this with regular visits to ensure all the company’s policies and procedures are being followed.
Duncan’s role will be working closely with our CRM department to ensure clients are receiving the high level of service that we pride ourselves on, following up on any complaints or issues and training our guards to adhere to best practice.
We thought it an ideal opportunity to get to know a bit more about Duncan, so we asked him a few questions about his life prior to joining us.
Duncan is 47 years old, married with five children. His hobbies include mountain / hill walking, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and supporting Manchester City. This will certainly give him plenty to discuss with our directors, Alan and Alan, who are both avid Manchester United fans.
Duncan worked for 22 years with Lancashire Constabulary and was a Detective for over 17 years. He retired in 2014 and held the rank of Detective Inspector. On retirement he started his own commercial cleaning business and had a clothes shop in Afflecks Palace Manchester which was run by his eldest son.
He decided after two very intense years and having built good foundations for both businesses to sell them on to spend a little bit more time with family. Since selling the businesses he has worked, mainly part time, in the following roles;
- Lecturer at UCLAN
- Management Consultant
- Part Time Security Officer at Preston North End Training facility
Feeling that he once more needed a challenge in his life, Duncan saw an advert for a role with Lingwood and decided to apply. In his own words:
“I met with the two Alans (Lingwood Senior and Junior), had a formal interview and found them to be the type of people I knew I would work well with. Alan and his family have built up a very successful company in a really competitive industry and I just knew that I would fit in well. I am now looking forward to adding my skills and experience to the company and taking things to the next level in terms of customer satisfaction. I also want to ensure that all operational staff continue to feel valued and set us out from the competition. I really would like the term ‘going beyond expectations’ to be something that resonates with Lingwood Security Management not only by our clients but by all Lingwood staff.”
We all looking forward to working closely with Duncan over the coming months and wish him all the best in his new role with the business.
