Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to join Lingwood Security Management?

Worked in the sales industry for over 10 years now across a number of sectors, from selling telecoms to alcohol (very different I know) then moved across to the sales of recruitment, I saw the advert for the role with Lingwood and it excited me to still stay in sales but a completely different sector and I love a challenge.

What drew you to the business development field, and what excites you most about this new role?

Delighted to be given the opportunity to lead a sales department to help and develop the business to the full potential, I’ve really enjoyed the past couple of months, meeting old and existing clients, excited to be working for a well established business and feel I will succeed in the role with the experience i have.

As a Business Development Representative, what are your primary responsibilities at Lingwood Security?

I will be responsible for prospecting and cold calling potential new clients, building the rapport with our current clients, cross selling, and meeting customer needs while obtaining contract and maximising profits for the business. I will be out on site visiting potential new clients daily across the UK, liasing and working closely with our contracts manager.

How has your experience been so far working with the Lingwood team?

I have the experience to complete the position I am in and more, it’s been challenging to sell a service rather than a physical product but I’d like to think I have done extremely well. I have overcome problems in my past and will continue to overcome in the future (it’s normal). While given new areas to explore, I will do so with the expectation of a new learning experience. I am independent yet a great team player and like to think what I give to the company from what I’ve seen I will get back.

What has surprised you most about the security industry or the company itself?

The thing that has surprised me the most is the different aspects of the Security Industry and surprised of how much Clients need us.

What are your short-term and long-term goals in your role at Lingwood Security?

Short term goals – would be a great achievement to work on and mange the tenders for the business (sure Summer will be happy with that).

Long term goals –Successful in my Job role to work my way to be in a managerial position that allows me to lead a very successful team.

How do you hope to contribute to the company’s growth in the coming months?

Enthusiasm, dedication and hard work, having a positive attitude and energy will maximize the most from each of our clients, looking at new areas, adding new locations, being consistent and investing in customer acquisition to expand what we can do. Keeping details recorded, analysing our competition and being organised is a must in sales.

What skills or experiences from your previous roles do you think will help you succeed at Lingwood?

Teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to learn quickly, determination to succeed, positive attitude, achieve my goals set out.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in business development or entering a new industry?

For any new starters beginning as a Business Development Representative I would say come in with an open mind, do some research on existing customers talk to them and have a look what’s going on in and around the local area then expand on the knowledge you pick up. Also ask new colleagues about the requirements and use their expertise.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time when you’re not focused on business development?

I would say going to the gym, but can’t really say I enjoy that, its something I need to do. Obsessed with cleaning and having a beautiful clean home. I have a gorgeous daughter who is 19 who’s my best friend and 4 gorgeous step children who certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them, taking them out and having quality family time. Sundays I’m a diehard football mum. My little dog Elsa is my baby girl who follows me everywhere. If I’m not doing any of that I’m sure sat around a pool drinking a cocktail in the sunshine.
